Colorado v Nathan Woodyard

Former Aurora Police Officer Nathan Woodyard is charged in the death of Elijah McClain.

On Aug 24, 2019, McClain was on foot in Aurora, CO when Officer Woodyard arrived. Within minutes, Woodyard and two other officers had restrained McClain to the ground. During the incident, Woodyard placed a carotid neck hold on McClain, who purportedly had reached for Woodyard’s service weapon during the scuffle. McClain died in the hospital 6 days later.
