Arizona v Michael Turney
A cold case in which Alissa Turney, 17, went missing on her last day of high school in Paradise Valley, Arizona in May 2001. Her stepfather, Michael Turney, was thought to be the last person to see her that day. Turney was first suspected in Alissa's disappearance/murder in 2008, in spite of the fact there was no body found. Investigators instead discovered a "bomb plot" finding pipe bombs and other devices on his property, and arrested Turney for that. He served 10 years for those offenses, but had yet to be tried for the death of Alissa. In 2020, Turney was indicted, arrested and charged for the death of Alissa Turney with prosecutors citing new evidence from family members.
