Michigan v Jennifer Crumbley

​Jennifer Crumbley is the mother of Ethan Crumbley, who was convicted for killing four students and injuring seven others in Oxford Township, Michigan in November 2021.  Jennifer Crumbley was charged with four counts of involuntary manslaughter for failure to secure the weapon Ethan Crumbley used in the shooting deaths of the four students who lost their lives. Ethan's father and Jennifer Crumbley's husband, James Crumbley, was also charged with involuntary manslaughter for the deaths, but the parents were tried separately.

​Notes:

This was the first case in the nation wherein the parents of a "school shooter" was held culpable for the actions of their minor child.  The message prosecution wished to send was that parents hold responsibility for securing dangerous firearms in order to prevent further horrendous crimes perpetrated by minors in their custody and care.
